Laura Waldman is proud to serve on the Labor Law (Construction Accident) team since 2026. Previously, she was a Law Clerk with the Law Office of Ali Najmi, and a Civil Rights Summer Associate at Beldock, Levine & Hoffman. While Laura attended the CUNY School of Law by night, by day she was a Paralegal in the Consumer Protection Unit at the New York Legal Assistance Group (NYLAG). There, she supported NYLAG’s work on economic justice issues including foreclosure prevention, alleviating student loan debt, and relief for taxi medallion owners.

A mediator since 2017, Laura has managed the Queens Civil Court Mediation Program through Community Mediation Services and the Westchester Surrogate’s Court Mediation Program through CLUSTER, Inc. Prior to her work as a mediator, she was the Operations Manager of SunBlue Energy, a solar installation company, where she always enjoyed opportunities to assist in the field on installation projects.

While at CUNY Law, Laura joined a student delegation to spend an immersive winter break at the Mississippi Workers’ Center for Human Rights. This experience affirmed her desire to pursue a legal career informed by the social movements that have advanced human dignity. It also strengthened her admiration for the attorneys and organizers whose dedication made that progress possible. She aims to carry their spirit with her as she advocates for clients at Liakas Law.

In 2023, Laura published No Settled Law on Settled Land: Legal Struggles for Native American Land and Sovereignty Rights in the CUNY Law Review.
