Adam Strychaluk

Adam is an associate in Liakas Law’s civil rights practice, where he advocates for people who have suffered corporate and governmental abuse. He has helped secure tens of millions of dollars for clients who have been wrongfully convicted, brutalized by police and corrections officers, and discriminated against because of their race, sex, religion, and disability in employment, education, and housing.

Adam has represented individuals, corporations, and civic organizations in a range of complex cases before federal and state courts at both the trial and appellate levels. His experience includes helping secure the largest civil rights verdict in the Northern District of New York on behalf of the family of a man killed by state correctional officers, as well as a record-setting, multi-million-dollar verdict on behalf of racial justice protestors. Adam also helped secure one of the largest settlements in New York state on behalf of a disabled man horrendously abused at a group home, as well as one of the highest recorded settlements in New York City for an unlawful stop-and-frisk. He has also achieved important results and significant settlements for clients who have been the victims of sexual abuse, religious discrimination, First Amendment retaliation, and unconstitutional prison conditions.

Before joining Liakas Law, Adam served as a law clerk for the Honorable District Judge Wilma A. Lewis of the District Court of the Virgin Islands and practiced at boutique firms in New York City focused on civil rights and commercial litigation. He also interned at five public defender’s offices during law school, including the Federal Defenders of New York, Brooklyn Defender Services, and New York County Defender Services.

Adam is admitted to practice in New York; the Southern, Eastern, and Northern Districts of New York; and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is a graduate of McGill University and New York University School of Law.
